Minimalism is not the word, essentialism is more accurate. Italianate House is located in Surry Hills, Australia, and was designed by Renato D’Ettorre Architects. The building’s main historical features were brought back to life. The recovered bricks, terracotta tiles, white Carrara marble, light stuccoed walls, and the extraordinary double height brick vault ceiling makes us think we could be in Tuscany. The fountain in the patio takes straight to Palazzo Querini Stampalia in Venice. Italy, high and low. Escaping from trends, the space radiates beauty in a tranquil, serene, and calming way. It’s an opportunity to stop, think, and feel.
