Clay is an ancient material that connects us to nature and traditional craft wisdom. Terracotta can be found in pots, vases, jewelry, buildings … you name it!
Its hue ranges through reds, oranges, yellows, and even pinks, and makes it perfect to use as a base color. Use complementary colors like pastel blues and greens, and pair it with other warm colors such as pink or apricot. Use bold prints and botanical themes, and don’t forget leather and brass accents!

We can’t end this post without talking about the Terracotta Army (Xian, China). It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience if you have the chance to visit. The soldier’s figures, dating from the late third century BCE, were discovered in 1974. To this day, they are still working to unbury the vast amount of remaining terracotta figures.
