Vincenzo de Cotiis Home
Seeking to emphasize the history and atmosphere of this Novecento Milanese house, Vincenzo De Cotiis has made his 300 square meter apartment a resounding manifesto.
With a brutal aesthetic, the interior retains the elegance one expects from Italian design. De Cotiis gives his creations and furniture a rough and brutal but tremendously refined elegance. Surfaces are never smooth, nor glazed, but they reveal its authentic imperfection.
This apartment is an ode to good design, everything – except Warren Platner’s Platner Chairs for Knoll – has been designed by the architect. From the brass baseboards throughout the house that hide the installations, to the spectacular custom kitchen in Brazilian marble. The furniture, the lamps, the sculptures, the use of materials, everything makes us think of Wagner and his Gesamtkunstwerk – total work of art-.
