In 2001, Fendi created the Alda Fendi-Esperimenti foundation to promote artistic creativity in Rome. Its headquarters are three old apartment buildings with priceless views of the Roman Forum close to the Arch of Jano. Hard to find a better location. The French architect Jean Nouvel is responsible for its recent rehabilitation, which includes the hotel The Rooms of Rome — located in the seventeenth century Rhinoceros palace.
The Rooms of Rome are designed to provide a personalized experience to the guest, a unique stay based on the needs, aspirations, and personal desires of each person.
Kike Sarasola, Founder and President of Room Mate group, which includes 24 hotels, explained that this is just the beginning of one of his next projects: The Rooms of the World. “I am confident that entering the world of art, gastronomy, and high-level hospitality will be a great success and an enjoyable experience.”
In the rooms, we can find walls with exposed bricks, chipped plaster and mixed materials are worn out by the passing of time. The furniture in neutral tones, together with chairs and armchairs by Jean Prouvé, softens the hardness. The kitchens and bathrooms exhibit stainless steel surfaces in sharp contrast to the crumpled walls, and screens have been installed with photographic prints of how the floors were before the works in a sort of Trompe-l’œil, acting also as light reflectors,
The result of his work is a radical combination of contemporary furniture and the remaining of the ancient world that now welcomes them—a space designed to ensure the full enjoyment of its prime position.
