HOW TO MAKE ANY ROOM LOOK BIGGER

We all love bright, spacious houses, but the truth is that most people have to make do with smaller spaces. Although we like to dream, we also want to share useful tips and tricks on how to make any room look bigger.

MAKE A ROOM LOOK BIGGER WITH PAINT

Choose light colors, which are in the cooler spectrum. These, applied to the wall, provide depth, and create a receding effect.

In any case, the important thing is to maintain the same tone, between the walls, ceiling, and joinery. The aim is to avoid drawing attention to the limits of the room and create an edgeless feeling.

PLAY WITH LIGHT

Natural light is the best ally we can have, but we can’t always count on it. Avoid hanging lamps, as they bring the ceilings closer together. You can use indirect light to create exciting shadows that also help diffuse the limits of the space and make the room look bigger. Mirrors are an excellent tool for multiplying light!

THINK VERTICAL

Focusing attention on the top of the room increases the feeling of space. For example, installing shelves on the upper third of the wall, or using paper with vertical stripes, is always a good idea to make our room look bigger. If we want to create the illusion of a wider area, paper, or paneling with horizontal stripes is the right choice!

USE NEGATIVE SPACE

It is always good to separate the furniture from the walls if you want to make your space look bigger. This is not still easy in a small room, which is why we also suggest using more height than width, selecting multi-function pieces whenever possible, such as extendable tables, pieces that serve as seats and storage…etc.

GO BIG

Few pieces of larger size will make a room seem larger than a succession of small pieces of furniture. The perfect combination is also to include a rug of generous proportions.

WHICH FURNITURE USE TO MAKE ANY ROOM LOOK BIGGER?

¤Use lightweight furniture with straight lines and light tones. Best if it has more than one function.

¤Furniture with legs or suspended to expose the flooring is the best choice.

¤Cabinets with sliding doors will help not to waste space.

¤Paint or choose furniture in the same color as the wall.

¤Use dividers, better if made of woven fabric, that allows a glimpse of what’s behind.

As we said at the beginning , if the eye does not perceive contrast, the bedroom will seem to be more profound and therefore bigger! Let us know how this tricks worked in your home.
