Despite his many projects, we find that Joseph Dirand’s home in Paris has a different aura, maybe because it’s for his personal use, perhaps it is just us imagining he put a little more of his soul in it. Whatever it is, this elegant apartment, located in the Seventh Paris Arrondissement, is furnished with vintage gems by Oscar Niemeyer, and Ettore Sottsass combined with more harsh pieces of Pierre Jeanneret, Jean Prouvé, and Le Corbusier.
Saying that Dirand’s style is minimalist is an understatement, as in his apartment, there’s a much richer narrative around space, light, and perspective. Dirand is one of our favorite architects, not only because of his talent and mastery but mostly because of how his interiors tell a story.
