Lower Mill is an extraordinary project by McLaren Excell Architects . Although it’s a relatively young firm – 2010 – they already managed to create a unique signature. Minimalistic – neutral colored, devoid of ornamentation, and spacious – yet warm and vibrant.
This rehabilitation project is a perfect example of their design philosophy, comprehensible, and straightforward. Black steel, bleached oak, limestone, glass, and natural fibers juxtapose to the wooden beams, bricks, and the mill wheel existent in the original structure, creating a gracious interior aesthetic of discreet elegance. We’ve been completely captivated by its beauty.
