NANI MARQUINA-5

Nani Marquina | In10

In a time when design in Spain was almost non-existent and  merely industrial, Nani Marquina started designing contemporary rugs, at night, in the backroom of her father’s architecture studio. A tenacious and courageous woman in a world dominated by men. During the economic crisis of 93, Nani discovered in India that the return to the origin was the key to innovation. Almost thirty years later, there are more than  600 selling points around the world, a showroom in New York, and the MOMA have her designs.

A rug for each space and emotion

Always innovative, Nani Marquina collaborates with the best designers like the Bouroullec brothers, Ron Arad, Christian Zuzunaga, Doshi-Levien, or Nao Tamura. And, more recently, Jaime Hayon. Nani Marquina’s studio recovers the tradition and applies the best design to the rugs, turning them into a contemporary piece. This combination of craftsmanship and modernity has made her company the undisputed leader of the sector.

Nani Marquina is part of the Care & Fair initiative. The initiative aims to improve the living standards and education of boys and girls in producing countries.

BARCELONA BY NANI MARQUINA

¤ A neighborhood to get lost…

-Barcelona is a very touristic city, and I really appreciate my neighborhood, Sant Gervasi- Tibidabo, as it hasn’t changed with time. It connects me with my childhood and nature, as I can see so many parks and the mountain

¤ An architectural work…

-La Pedrera by Antoni Gaudi

¤ A place to eat…

-I love La Venta Restaurant because it is a classic from Barcelona with one of the best views of the city. Another one that I love is Flash Flash Restaurant.

¤A shop that every designer should know…

Vinçon is the best shop that Barcelona has ever had.

¤ A secret spot…

-Plaça St Felip Neri.
