Pastel tones dresses – and, by extension, blouses, handbags, and suits – is an evident trend this year. Its rise could be understood as reactionary, just as ugliness was enshrined as a massive trend in the industry in response to the fictitious perfection shown by social networks. In that sense, pastel tonality would represent sweetness and aesthetics in the face of an increasingly harsh world. But beyond its intellectual background, this trend has much practical realization. In fact, it has ceased to be relegated to Danish fashion and has freed itself from the labels that tagged it as cheese.
The romanticism and childishness of lemon yellow, pink cotton candy, orange peach or mint green coexist in leading stores with radically opposite trends, such as those that talk about Gothic fashion and punk girls.
