Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter and Oscar Properties are responsible for the renovation of the former Institute of Pharmacy at the University of Stockholm. Where there used to be classrooms and laboratories, we now have 39 apartments. This building, today protected by law, was built in 1896 following the guidelines of the architect Gustaf Dahl and has been renovated and converted with maximum respect for the original elements, the facades, entrances, and stairs.
Its 4.3m high ceilings, with the vaults in sight, are undoubtedly a focal point of this renovation. For the interiors, exquisite but simple furniture and materials have been chosen. With a neutral color palette and the natural color of the wood, a chromatic declination of greys and white predominates. Art is the counterpoint to such discretion and brings dynamism to interiors.
The Institute of Zoological Anatomy, designed in 1956 by the famous architect Paul Hedqvist, has also been renovated. The studio Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter has also converted it into homes, 30 of which are flats and two large lofts in the attic. The architects have kept their original central staircase from the 1950s and the original elevator.
A careful renovation guided by the respect for the history of the building.
