Contemporary Mexican architecture is one of the soberest, well balanced, and modern we can find these days. Today’s project is In PuertoEscondido, in the state of Oaxaca (Mexico), surrounded by vegetation and sandit is five minutes’ walk from the beach. Its neighbors are the Escondido Hotel a boutique establishment, and Casa Wabi, an impressive building by Tadao Ando.
Talented architect Aranza de Ariño and Claudio Sodi designed Casa Tiny, inspired by Henry David Thoreau’s essay: Walde. This contemporary concrete cabin, finished with timber accents to give the right warmth to the concrete volume. It only admits two guests. It has a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen with a fantastic colossal table that connects the interior with the exterior. A wood-fired oven for making pizzas and a small private swimming pool complete its minimal design. Pure luxury, precisely because of its simplicity. What this cabin offers, above all, is peacefulness.
